The Transport for Ireland website provides Real Time Passenger Information (RTPI) section. This section provides up to the minute information on Bus times, DART times, Irish Rail times and Luas times. RTPI can tell you when your public transport service is due to arrive at a specific stop or station, this allows you to plan any journey accurately.
To use the RTPI section of the transport for Ireland website click www.transportforireland.ie. You have the option to choose your Luas or Bus stop number, search by route number or location. You will then choose the direction you are travelling and up to the minute journey information will be displayed including live bus times and live rail times. The Irish Rail option of the RTPI section will direct you to www.irishrail.ie to give you information on Irish Rail times. This section will show you a map of Ireland, you have the option to click on the various stops displayed nationwide. When you click on a particular stop, a list of information will appear detailing routes and Irish Rail timetables.
Smartphone users can download the Journey Planner apps from the iPhone App Store or Android Play Store. The Journey Planner app provides journey planning, timetable and realtime information for all licenced public transport providers across Ireland. Bus times, Dublin Luas times, ferry times, Irish Rail times are all provided for your convenience. Transport for Ireland is continuously updating its realtime technology for your needs to make journey planning easier than ever.
Text / SMS
For people with no Internet access or Smartphone, Transport for Ireland also provides a real time text service. You can get the time of the next four buses from any bus stop number on the Dublin Bus network. Simply text your bus stop number to 53035 to receive accurate information directly to your mobile phone. Users can refine their search by including a route number. The service costs 30c per message received.
