Cork City Council Energy Office in conjunction with the Plant & Machinery section recently carried out an energy efficient retrofit of the basement City Council Car Park and stairwell lighting. The Energy Office applied for funding through the SEAI, Better Energy Workplace (BEW) funding scheme and were successful in drawing down part-funding for the project. The level of support provided was €11,000. Approximately 371 lights were replaced with new efficient LED lighting. It is estimated that the payback for the project will be 3 years. The energy consumption of the basement Car Park will be monitored closely for the next few months to ensure projected savings will be made.
The images below show the lighting levels before the works and after the works were completed.
