Artists Invited to Participate in Summer Outdoor Performances in Cork County

Cork County Council is seeking expressions of interest from Performing Artists (ensembles/bands or individuals), Promoters, Producers, Venues and Festival organisations for outdoor performance events in towns and villages across Cork County this Summer.

The aim of this scheme is to enable programming of outdoor live performances in various locations across the county from July 1st to September 30th, 2021 subject to prevailing public health considerations. While it is intended to focus on delivery of live performances in public spaces, it may be necessary to adjust planned events and to opt for some performances to be recorded or streamed, subject to public health guidelines.

Launching the scheme Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Mary Linehan Foley said,

“Covid-19 has impacted our performers and venues enormously with livelihoods turned upside down. The community have responded with innovation and remarkable resilience by moving to virtual platforms, but we all miss the atmosphere of a live performance and we’re all a little more aware of the value of Arts and culture to our lives. Supporting the Arts continues to be a priority for Cork County Council. The Local Live Performance Programming Scheme is a welcome support which will enable Cork County Council to work with artists, arts promotion groups and businesses to enable live cultural events which will support the reopening of our towns following a very difficult year”

Cork County Council welcomes proposals from professional performing artists, ensembles, bands etc. in all art forms, for example Music, Theatre, Dance, Spectacle and Street Arts. In submitting expressions of interest, applicants should assess the feasibility of staging the proposed event. The scheme aims to provide support to professional performing artists, event producers and ancillary production personnel and is designed to encourage proposals for outdoor performances that will animate public spaces in county towns and other rural locations.  The funding programme is aligned with Cork County Council’s Project ACT 2021 initiative which aims to revitalise social, cultural and economic life in our major county towns.

The deadline for expressions of interest is Monday 28th June at 12 noon.  For further information and how to apply please see scheme has been introduced by of The Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media to support live performance in local areas.
